Termite Tent Fumigation

The Fumigation Process – Kills Termites Dead!

Structural fumigation for termites is a procedure where canvas tarps are used to cover or tent an entire structure allowing a gas fumigant (Vikane) to penetrate through all wood timbers in the structure eliminating 100% of drywood termites.

How the Fumigation or Termite Tenting Process Works:

  • The fumigation process starts with preparing your home for fumigation. A Mariners Pest Control licensed Inspector will walk you through everything you need to do to prepare for your fumigation. This usually requires you to “double bag” your food items and ingestable items in your medicine cabinent.
  • Once you’ve prepared your home and left, the fumigation crew will cover your home with tarps or plastic sheeting – this is called “tenting” the home.
  • Once tented, a warning agent is released into the home as a precaution to ensure that all people have vacated.
  • Next, all doors are secured, and additional locking devices are placed in the key holes in your doors to help prevent unauthorized entry.
  • Now, fumigation begins – Vikane® gas fumigant is released into the home, filling all air spaces and voids in the wood, walls and floor. Vikane reaches all of the termite colonies in the structure.
  • Finally, the tarps are removed and your home is aerated. Your fumigation professional will check the home with sophisticated equipment to ensure all of the Vikane has dissipated from the structure before authorizing reentry

We follow a strict California State guideline and will ensure you and your pet’s safety during the process.
